Kayaking Destinations - Long Island, NY - Coach Realtors

Paddlesports are not only great exercise, but they're also a great way to relax, connect with nature, and enjoy all the outdoor beauty Long Island has to offer. Living in an area surrounded by water means ample opportunity for kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Paddlesports happen to be some of our REALTORS® favorite summer hobbies. Here are some of our favorite places to kayak around Long Island:

  • Hempstead Lake State Park - 1000 Lake Drive, West Hempstead, NY 11552
Located just south of these great Garden City homes for sale is Hempstead Lake State Park, which has three ponds that are great for kayaking and paddleboarding. The park has a nice boat launch and dock, so water access is easy. The whole park is calm and serene and an excellent place to find some peace and quiet.

  • Wantagh Park - 1 King Rd., Wantagh, NY 11793
Wantagh Park is a small but beautiful local amenity equipped with a boat launch that makes it easy to paddle around and explore the East Bay. You'll love the beautiful views and natural scenery all around—and the best part is, this spot usually isn't very crowded.

  • Idlewild Kayak / Canoe Launch - Craft Avenue and Huxley Street, Rosedale, NY 11422
Idlewild Kayak / Canoe Launch provides easy access to the calm waters of beautiful Hook Creek Park. Paddle your way along this picturesque creek and catch some stunning views of the local wildlife. We're lucky to have this amazing urban nature retreat in our own backyard. If you'd like to live nearby, check out these Nassau County homes for sale.

  • Blydenburgh County Park - Veteran's Memorial Highway, Smithtown, NY 11788
Come explore Blydenburgh Lake, also known as Stump Pond, at Blydenburgh County Park. This lake covers about 100 acres and is about 8 feet deep. There are two boat launches: one near the rowboat rental area and one near the Historic District. Kayaking on this lake is a lot of fun in the summer, but it's also worth coming back when fall foliage is in full swing. After you're done paddling, swing by one of these nearby Smithtown homes for sale.

  • Stony Brook Harbor- 51 Shore Rd., Stony Brook, NY 11790
Stony Brook Harbor offers some of the most scenic kayaking experiences on Long Island. It provides access to the nearby Porpoise Channel Inlet, between Stony Brook and Smithtown Bay. Need a boat? Stony Brook Kayak Rentals is conveniently located onshore, just down the street from some beautiful Stony Brook homes for sale.

  • Mount Sinai Harbor - 244 Harbor Beach Rd., Mt Sinai, NY 11766
Mount Sinai Harbor is located near some spectacular Mount Sinai homes for sale. Between the harbor and the nearby beaches, there are plenty of places to launch. Paddle around the harbor or, if you're more experienced, head on out to the Long Island Sound.
