    The rich history around Old Bethpage adds a bewitching context to the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, a 209-acre living museum, is the impressive setting of this holiday spooktacular. The pumpkin trail, featuring more than 7,000 hand-carved jack o'lanterns, winds past 19th-century buildings and through historic barns. New attractions this year include the Long Island Pumpkin Hall of Fame and a pumpkin Ferris wheel. Blaze runs from 10/4 - 11/3. Tickets are for timed admission and must be purchased in advance.     Something wicked this way comes in the Haunted Forest at Spooky Fest. Tanglewood Preserve, only minutes from Rockville Centre homes for sale, morphs into a Halloween extravaganza featuring dazzling special effects and a multitude of characters. Younger children can follow the Enchanted Walk, a scare-free attraction with friendly characters and decorations. Other Spooky Fest activities include arts and crafts, fortune telling, face painting, and a dance floor. Spooky Fest is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 10/4 and 10/27, with hours from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Full admission is $27, with a $22 admission for the non-scary option.

  • Bellport Halloween Parade - Bellport Fire House, 161 Main St., Bellport, NY 11713
    Is there a better way to show off a great Halloween costume than by attending the annual Bellport Halloween Parade? The starting point is the Bellport Fire House, as the procession of skeletons, ghosts, and witches follows a route that ends at the Bell Street Community Center. Afterward, kids can enjoy safe trick-or-treating as downtown merchants fill their bags with goodies. Don't forget to vote for your favorite in the scarecrow competition. Parade time is 11:30 a.m. on 10/26.
