5 Fall Festivals and Seasonal Events to Check Out on Long Island 

Long Island Fall Festival 

Address: 164 Main Street, Huntington, NY 

The Long Island Fall Festival is by far the biggest local fall celebration, drawing in more than 200,000 guests each year. Every minute of this four-day bash near our Huntington homes for sale is packed with fun things to see and do, including:  

• A carnival with midway rides and games 
• Live performances from local bands and dance groups 
• A magic show 
• A kids' talent show and art activity  
• A pop-up exhibit from the Long Island Public Arts Festival 
• A meatball eating contest 
• A beer, wine, and spirits tent 
• Food stalls selling classic carnival treats like cotton candy and ice cream 
• More than 30 food trucks serving cuisine from all over the world 

The festival will be in town from October 9 to 12. The festival itself is free, but you'll need to buy a carnival wristband if you want to ride any of the rides. Costs for those vary depending on which day you visit.  

Huntington Historical Society Apple Festival 

Address: 434 Park Avenue, Huntington, NY 

The Huntington Historical Society's annual Apple Festival may be named after the classic fall fruit, but it doesn't actually have much to do with apples. Instead, it's a general fall celebration with a unique historical twist. You can expect to see: 

• Pumpkin decorating activities (no cutting, so it's safe for kids) 
• Themed crafts and games 
• Live renditions of folk tunes from America's early days
• Textile weaving demonstrations using historical techniques 
• Militia demonstrations that recreate historical musket drills and cannon fire preparation 
• Tours of Kissam House and its grounds (the location where the festival is held) 
• Fresh-baked fall treats 
• Food from local food trucks 

The festival is free to attend and always happens on an afternoon in early- to mid-October, but exact dates and times haven't been announced yet for this year. The society typically posts those details on their Facebook page in late September, so watch for that announcement coming up soon. 

Hicks Nurseries Fall Festival 

Address: 100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury, NY 

The Hicks Nurseries Fall Festival has been bringing joy to Long Island families for more than 50 years. A classic kid-friendly experience through and through, this spot features all kinds of wholesome fun: 

• A corn hole court 
• Giant Connect 4 and Tic-Tac-Toe games 
• A scarecrow ring toss game 
• A makeshift bowling lane 
• A three-hole mini golf course 
• A hay maze 
• Farm goodies like apple cider donuts, fudge, and kettle corn 
• Three different craft activities for kids (weekends only) 
• An animated Halloween walkthrough show with fun seasonal scenes and a few mild scares
• The chance to meet beloved costumed character Otto the Ghost 

The farm is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day from mid-September to the beginning of November. There's no admission fee, and all activities except the hay maze and crafts are free.

47th Annual Pickle Festival Fundraiser

Did you know that pickling was invented as a way to preserve extra food from harvest season? That's why the Greenlawn/Centerport Historical Society holds its Pickle Festival Fundraiser every fall at John Gardiner Farm. Guests can look forward to: 

• A selection of specialty pickles and fried pickles to snack on 
• An exhibit on pickle history 
• A working farm train to ride on 
• A corn maze 
• An antique car show 
• A craft market with handmade goods from local artisans 
• Roast corn, baked goodies, and other food and drink available for purchase 
• Access to the farm stand for buying produce to take home 

All proceeds help fund the society's activities over the next year.  This year's festival is scheduled for September 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fall Fun Festival at Albert H. Schmitt Family Farm 

Address: 6 Bagatelle Road, Dix Hills, NY 

Albert H. Schmitt Family Farm's Fall Fun Festival event turns part of the farm into a fall-themed wonderland for guests to explore. Visit this quaint family-owned business near our Dix Hills homes for sale to find:
